A major solar project for a leading research institute

The Earlham Institute’s mission is to “decode the scale and complexity of living systems so we can understand, benefit from, and protect life on Earth” — a goal we were proud to support through this large-scale commercial solar installation.

Following a successful tender and pitch process, Lanman Solar was appointed to deliver the project. After a series of planning meetings with teams across the organisation, we designed and installed a substantial solar PV system on the Earlham Institute building in Norwich.

This was a significant and technically demanding installation, both in terms of scale and coordination. In total, we installed 683 solar panels, creating a commercial solar array capable of producing around 290kWp.

The project took the best part of a month to complete and required careful planning throughout, but the end result was a striking large-scale renewable energy system that will support the Institute’s sustainability goals for years to come.

A complex project delivered successfully

Projects of this size require clear communication, careful scheduling and a practical installation team. Working closely with the Earlham Institute throughout the process, we were able to deliver the system efficiently and safely, while maintaining the standards expected on a site of this nature.

We’re proud to have completed such a landmark commercial solar project and look forward to seeing the long-term impact the system has for the Earlham Institute.

Beyond the environmental benefits, the financial savings have also been significant. The system is currently saving approximately £4,500 per year, depending on the export arrangement in place at any given time.
